Subject: Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Focus: Academic credentials and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) records
Nature: Public interest review based on documents in circulation and available institutional records
Background
Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is a Nigerian public office holder from Ondo State (Akoko axis). In recent months, questions have emerged in the public domain regarding the authenticity and consistency of his academic and NYSC records. This brief summarises the key issues arising from those allegations.
SSCE (WAEC)
It is not disputed that Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo may have sat for WAEC in 1999.
However, his original WAEC certificate has not been presented.
The WAEC Attestation of Result in circulation raises concerns as a forged document due to
Attached passport photograph (unusual for standard attestations for 1999 WAEC graduates)
The document is therefore considered suspicious, pending clarification from WAEC.
BACHELOR’S DEGREE
He claimed to have attended Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) from 1999 before transferring abroad in 2002.
No verifiable graduation record from OAU has been identified.
He further claimed to have graduated in 2005 from North London Metropolitan University, an institution name not legally in existence in 2002.
Graduation records by London Metropolitan University do not list him as a 2005 graduate.
MASTER’S DEGREE
He also claimed a master’s degree from London Metropolitan University in 2006.
This implies enrolment while still completing a bachelor’s degree in 2005.
His name does not appear on master’s degree graduation records of the institution as at today.
NYSC RECORDS
Documents in circulation suggest NYSC mobilisation in 2006, despite claims he was studying in the UK at the time.
NYSC mobilisation requires verified degree credentials and physical presence in Nigeria.
Further claims suggest a second mobilisation in 2019, despite prior alleged service
His status as an elected member of the House of Representatives
Legal prohibition against double NYSC service
Summary
Taken together, the missing certificates, conflicting timelines, and questionable NYSC records raise serious public interest concerns that require clarification by the relevant authorities.
